AR Rahman was supposed to composed music for "Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy"?

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy was supposed to have music by Academy Award-winner AR Rahman, but because of unknown reasons, the composer backed out of the project right when the film was in its nascent stage.

For months, the makers could not find a replacement for the iconic musician as the shooting of the film was going on in full swing.

Later, they have finally zeroed in on a composer for the biopic. It is said that popular Bollywood musician Amit Trivedi has been roped in to compose music for the ambitious project

Amit will be making his debut in the Telugu film industry with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Amit has not worked on any South Indian film so far, but he is quite popular for his Bollywood compositions.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. The period drama is about the freedom fighter Narasimha Reddy and has stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.

In addition to Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Amit is also making his debut in Tamil with the film Paris Paris, which is a remake of Kangana Ranaut's Queen.

A R Rahman’s mother Kareema Begum passes away

AR Rahman's mother Kareema Begum died in Chennai on Monday, said sources close to the family, reported news agency PTI. The music maestro, on Monday afternoon, shared a photograph of his mother on his Twitter profile without a caption. Reacting to his tweet, his friends from film and music industry offered their condolences to the singer. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and DMK President M K Stalin also paid tributes to Kareema Begum on Twitter.

AR Rahman was raised by his mother after his father and music composer RO Sekhar died when he was only nine years old. In many interviews, the Mozart of Madras had expressed that it was his mother who first recognised and nurtured his musical gifts.

"There is a Hindi dialogue, mere paas ma hai, which means 'I have nothing but I have a mother'. So my mother is here, her blessings are there with me. I'm grateful for her to have come all the way," -Rahman while receiving Oscars 

AR Rahman impressed by this 10-year-old’s performance on BGT

A 10-year-old girl has impressed AR Rahman and there’s a chance that her mesmerising voice will soothe your soul too. Taking to Twitter, the musical maestro shared a video of a Souparnika Nair who showcased her superb singing skills on the stage of Britain’s Got Talent.

“Nice to wake up to this,” Rahman shared the video with this caption. In the video, 10-year-old Nair starts with The Trolley Song by Judy Garland. However, one of the judges, Simon Cowell, stops her midway and asks her to sing another song to “hear a different part of her voice.” He asks her to perform the song Never Enough from the film The Greatest Showman. And she performs it in such a way that it earns her a standing ovation from the judges and the audience.

AR Rahman on actors singing for their movies

Playback singers have always played an integral part in Bollywood, lending their melodious vocals to many heroes and heroines on the big screen, but now in recent times it’s becoming popular for actors to sing their own songs. Some disagree with this, however AR Rahman thinks otherwise.

Reported on DNA India, some singers have expressed that actors should just stick to acting and leave the singing to the singers, which they say there are plenty of, but Rahman feels there isn’t wrong in this concept. With the likes of Ayushmann Khurrana, Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor, but to name a few, Rahman says it’s a nice idea and if the actors put enough time and effort into it they can perfect their singing skills.

“Actors singing their songs in movies is the general norm worldwide. The actors need time to practice singing for their song before they record it. Nowadays, actors are very busy with hectic schedules and juggling with work commitments, leaving them with no time to practice singing their song,” further adding, “If they take time out and practice, it will be an amazing idea for them to sing for their movies.”

Rahman will be appearing as a judge on the singing reality show ‘The Voice India’ for the first time, which stars in February on Star Plus.
