AR Rahman was supposed to composed music for "Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy"?

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy was supposed to have music by Academy Award-winner AR Rahman, but because of unknown reasons, the composer backed out of the project right when the film was in its nascent stage.

For months, the makers could not find a replacement for the iconic musician as the shooting of the film was going on in full swing.

Later, they have finally zeroed in on a composer for the biopic. It is said that popular Bollywood musician Amit Trivedi has been roped in to compose music for the ambitious project

Amit will be making his debut in the Telugu film industry with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Amit has not worked on any South Indian film so far, but he is quite popular for his Bollywood compositions.

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. The period drama is about the freedom fighter Narasimha Reddy and has stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.

In addition to Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Amit is also making his debut in Tamil with the film Paris Paris, which is a remake of Kangana Ranaut's Queen.

AR Rahman impressed by this 10-year-old’s performance on BGT

A 10-year-old girl has impressed AR Rahman and there’s a chance that her mesmerising voice will soothe your soul too. Taking to Twitter, the musical maestro shared a video of a Souparnika Nair who showcased her superb singing skills on the stage of Britain’s Got Talent.
“Nice to wake up to this,” Rahman shared the video with this caption. In the video, 10-year-old Nair starts with The Trolley Song by Judy Garland. However, one of the judges, Simon Cowell, stops her midway and asks her to sing another song to “hear a different part of her voice.” He asks her to perform the song Never Enough from the film The Greatest Showman. And she performs it in such a way that it earns her a standing ovation from the judges and the audience.
“Wow… what a talent… it’s awesome,” wrote a Twitter user and several others expressed the same notion. “Incredible much!” wrote another. “Awesome and talented kid,” wrote a third.

“Wow… the last time I cried watching music was Lydian playing flight of the bumble bee and then now this. I love when music gives me goosebumps and makes me literally cry while am still smiling my heart out. Happy exhilarated tears,” wrote a fourth.

AR Rahman on actors singing for their movies

Playback singers have always played an integral part in Bollywood, lending their melodious vocals to many heroes and heroines on the big screen, but now in recent times it’s becoming popular for actors to sing their own songs. Some disagree with this, however AR Rahman thinks otherwise.

Reported on DNA India, some singers have expressed that actors should just stick to acting and leave the singing to the singers, which they say there are plenty of, but Rahman feels there isn’t wrong in this concept. With the likes of Ayushmann Khurrana, Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor, but to name a few, Rahman says it’s a nice idea and if the actors put enough time and effort into it they can perfect their singing skills.

“Actors singing their songs in movies is the general norm worldwide. The actors need time to practice singing for their song before they record it. Nowadays, actors are very busy with hectic schedules and juggling with work commitments, leaving them with no time to practice singing their song,” further adding, “If they take time out and practice, it will be an amazing idea for them to sing for their movies.”

Rahman will be appearing as a judge on the singing reality show ‘The Voice India’ for the first time, which stars in February on Star Plus.

AR Rahman Is Hunting For Singer With Heavenly Voice

Popular singers like Adnan Sami, Kanika Kapoor and Armaan Malik, along with the legendary A R Rahman, are all set to find a soulful new voice in the upcoming music reality TV show "The Voice India".

The new season of the show will begin on Star Plus from February 3, and will have a new format where Rahman will be the ‘Super Guru' and the rest of the three singers will be the voice coaches of the contestants.

How do they define a good voice?

Adnan told IANS: "I think there are some great singers we have seen in the world of music who are technically perfect, but not all of them perhaps touch our soul, because I believe that those voices touch our heart which have a spiritual quality."

"Those voices create an impact on our mind and you do not know why... Of course, whether it is in a music competition or in professional singing, after a point of time, everyone is singing a song correctly. But some are born with a blessed voice. We will pick them up and groom them to shine," explained the "Lift kara de" singer.

Kanika said: "I am not looking for a pitch perfect voice. I would rather go for the one that I feel. There are some voices that we hear, and though they are not perfect technically, they are expressive. Those voices can really express emotions through a song.

"At times, we call them an unusual voice. I don't mind if a voice is not the so-called ‘usual', but unless as a singer you are not expressing enough to touch my heart, you are not the one I am looking for."

"One can be groomed to get the technical aspects right, but the soul has to be there in your voice," added the "Baby doll" fame singer.

Armaan, who is one of the youngest playback singers in Bollywood, said: "I have not set any parameter to choose a voice because I think you cannot say why do you love a voice... It just happens.

"I think that's where a singer gets connected with the listener. One cannot give an explanation as in why someone loves one's voice over another. But I want to celebrate the individuality of a new voice." (IANS)
